What is recorded here
Acairseid Mhòr is a coastal bay featuring sea cliffs composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in Scotland, dating back approximately 2.7 to 3 billion years. These metamorphic rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and were later exposed by erosion, creating a notable example of ancient geological history along the coast.
