Abercastle: Quarries

Stone Quarry

What is recorded here

Abercastle: Quarries cut Pembrokeshire stone during the 19th Century. The quarry may have fed local walls, roads or houses, lifting heavy stone from living rock. Men may have listened for cracks, measured depth and carried weight until the hill gave up its shape. What is missing is not the same as absent; it is only waiting to be remembered.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Abercastle: Quarries as Stone Quarry from the 19th Century period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
