Spanning the Inny River. Indicated on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of Abbeyshrule barony (NLI, MS 719). This bridge, or a replacement stone bridge, was described in 1682 as 'lately built by Robert Chawpen [Choppin] Esqr.’, who is also credited with the construction of a bridge (LF027-045----) at Newcastle (Gillespie and Moran 1991, 209). The present bridge dates from the mid-19th century and has two arches with cut-stone voussoirs rising from a central pier. A blocked-up archway of radially set voussoirs is visible in the E face to the S of the main arches: this may belong to the earlier bridge. The Cistercian monastery (LF023-113----) at Abbeyshrule is located c. 275m to the SSW.
