What is recorded here
Multivallate hill forts appeared across Ireland when people wanted defensible ground, and County Down holds one such A.P. SITE. Several earthworks may have ringed the summit, giving residents a clear view and a harder line for any attacker. The exact builders and dates remain uncertain, but the shape still points to a community that valued warning, refuge and control of the local landscape.
