Ystrad Meurig Castle, Ystradmeurig, stands as a Medieval castle in Ceredigion. The main hall may have held feasts, judged disputes or sheltered people when storms closed the mountains. Its rooms are gone, but the castle still marks the landscape and reminds the town that power once lived there.

Ystrad Meurig Castle was built by the Norman lord Bernard de Neufmarché in the late 11th or early 12th century during the Norman invasion of Wales. It is remembered as a key stronghold in the control of the surrounding region and as an example of early Norman castle-building in mid-Wales.
