Under Townhill, County Fermanagh, forgotten bodies from the nineteenth-century workhouse still wait beneath the soil. Starvation and brutality filled those institutions, yet the dead received no marker, no name, no ceremony. The living discarded them as easily as broken tools. That refusal to witness suffering is the true horror, not the bones themselves.
