No trap remains visible, but the medieval timber frame likely bit into the local water and forced fish into a narrow kill. Ballyurnanellan gave up its catch because people shaped the river rather than waiting for it to give itself away. The wood may have rotted, yet the idea still runs beneath the land like a hidden current.
