This commemorative plaque records: Site of The Kirk O' The Forest where William Wallace was proclaimed Guardian of Scotland 1298. In the Murray aisle of the present building, lie the maternal ancestors of Franklin D Roosevelt 32nd President of the U.S.A.
Sir William Wallace was a Scottish landowner and military leader who became one of the main leaders during the Wars of Scottish Independence against England; he was proclaimed Guardian of Scotland in 1298 at The Kirk O' The Forest.
