This red commemorative plaque records: The prototype British 'Fighting Tank' was designed here in late-Summer 1915 by W. A. Tritton and Lt. W. G. Wilson RN 400 tanks were subsequently built by Fosters of Lincoln Recorded plaque organisation: Transport Trust.
William Tritton and Major Walter Gordon Wilson are historically important for designing the prototype British 'Fighting Tank,' named Little Willie, in late-Summer 1915, which revolutionized warfare during World War I.
