Harbour Commissioner's Offices, County Antrim, Ireland: William Ritchie 1756-1834, Pioneer shipbuilder. A blue plaque still marks the wall where harbour business and shipbuilding memory crossed. Ritchie lived through seventy-eight years of changing water, timber and trade, long enough for beginner tools to become local tradition. The plaque is small, but it preserves a rare name at the root of Ulster seafaring craft.
