William Molyneux

William Molyneux, born in Dublin in 1656, became a close friend of John Locke and proposed the famous thought experiment about a blind man suddenly seeing a cube. He measured noon to within fifteen seconds with a telescopic sundial, represented Dublin University in Parliament, and died at forty-two. His tombstone in St. Audoen's Church still names his son Samuel, his writings, and his friendship with Locke.
