William Crean emerged from Tralee in 1951 as one of eight children, destined to become Bishop of Cloyne and chairperson of Trócaire. His journey stretched from local classrooms to Roman universities before returning to Kerry schools and parish halls. He carried that wide vision back into ordinary rooms, shaping religious education and regional media until January 2013, when he became bishop.
