Yeats was born in Sandymount, County Dublin, in 1865. He carried that coastal air into every poem, shaping the Irish Literary Revival and founding the Abbey Theatre with John Millington Synge and Lady Gregory. He won the 1923 Nobel Prize in Literature and later served as a Senator of the Irish Free State, yet he never stopped returning to the strange, circular dreams of his youth.
