What is recorded here

Whitcastles holds a nine-stone oval where the largest markers still point north and south, guiding human attention across the Solway Firth. It also preserves an unknown quarry and an Iron Age settlement, suggesting that people did not merely pass the stones but lived, took material and repeated ritual there. The circle has watched the land since the Bronze Age, patient enough to outlast every name spoken around it.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Whitcastles as Quarry (period Unknown), Settlement (iron Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
