What is recorded here

Whitcastles holds a Bronze Age stone circle where nine fallen giants still mark an oval 55 metres across. The largest rocks face north and south, pointing toward invisible directions while Sitka stumps crowd the grass around them. People may have gathered there to honour the dead or watch the sun travel, but their names disappeared before writing existed. What remains is a shallow bowl of stone and shadow, waiting for someone to stand inside it and remember that the earth was once busy with witness.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Whitcastles as Farmstead (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
