Water fountain or well, inserted or incorporated c.1880 into retaining wall to west of former Ballybay railway station. Round-arched opening with dressed chamfered surround and plinth, with rubble walling to interior of niche, and hinged wrought-iron gate to front. Sited to north-east of Ballybay town centre.

This is an interesting and rare aspect of the historic streetscape. It represents an important part of the technical and social history of the area as an amenity that would have provided fresh water to the local population.
