According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Mullagh-Aby' the lands 'hath the accomodation of the River Shewer runinge by it wherein is a Weare belonginge to the sd lands' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'James Prendergast of Tulloemealane Esqr Irish Papist' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 328).
