Weir is a post-medieval fish trap on the east bank of the Owenagarney River beside Green Island in County Clare. Sixteen metres of posts still lean through estuarine clay where the tide exposes them, marking a line built to catch what the river carried past.
On the E bank of the Owenagarney River adjacent to Green Island. Described by O’Sullivan (2001, 304) as a post-medieval ‘post alignment, oriented NE-SW, 16m long, in estuarine clays at LWM, SW of Green Island. February 1997.' (O'Sullivan 2001, 198-200, 304, Green Island 1)
