The precise location of a medieval eel weir on the Camoge River n the townland of Dunkip has not been identified. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that; 'The River of Comoge passeth through the Premisses and hath one Eele weare out of repaire now upon it. Nicholas Bourke son to the syd. James being a P[ro]testant claymeth interest to the p[re]misses by virtue of a Conveyance made to him by his father' (Simington 1938, 138).
