What is recorded here

Cast-iron weighbridge, installed c.1900, comprising platform with embossed lettering 'AVERY' to each end, and set in concrete, close to side of Eglinton Canal and next to the site of a mill.
This interesting piece of street furniture is all that remains of a now absent weighbridge located next to the Eglinton Canal and the site of a long gone corn mill. Cast by a British firm, W.T. Avery Ltd, this feature is an important reminder of the industrial and commercial heritage of Galway.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
