Wedge tomb in Knopoge

Knopoge holds a wedge tomb, one of many scattered across County Clare. Its stones still lean against the earth, waiting for hands to pull back grass and remember the shape of the chamber. Whoever built it did not ask permission from time. They cut a doorway through centuries and dropped a dead body inside. The wedge remains open at one end, not because it is broken, but because the builders understood that forgetting requires a shape sharp enough to cut through every generation that walks past.
