Castlehill in Erris By. holds a wedge tomb, one of the chambered graves where ancient people laid their dead beneath angled stone. The structure still stands in County Mayo, preserving the shape of rituals completed before written memory. Its stones may have marked a family line, a seasonal gathering place or a boundary between the living and the forgotten.
