Cast-iron water pump, erected c. 1890, now disused. Banded shaft with urn-shaped cap, curved banded spout with bucket grip and cow's tail handle with knob end. Set in prominent position on village green at west end of Main Street of Rathcormack.

This elegant water pump exhibits attractive and well-executed detail which enlivens the form of this utilitarian object. It is an important reminder of the time before the widespread provision of a domestic water supply. It is an interesting and attractive feature in the streetscape, and acts as a local landmark in the town.
