Water mill

The modern townland of Mullenkeagh has been identified with the seventeenth-century townland called 'Ballyhosty'. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Ballyhosty' there was 'a watercornemill' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'Charles Carroll of Behagh Gent Irish Papist' (Simington 1934, vol.2, 288). This watermill remains unlocated within the townland. Two watermills are also depicted in this townland on the Down Survey (1655-6) map.
