Water mill

Mill discovered in 1952 and investigated that year by Lucas and Danaher (Lucas 1953, 15-27). Understructure of the mill consisting of the dam, large wooden trough and the wheelhouse was uncovered. Site now levelled and covered over. No visible surface remains. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
