Wall monument in New Ross

Against the inner face of the N wall of the chancel is a masonry tomb, the apex of which breaks the line of the string-course at the bottom of the lancet windows. It has a trefoil gabled arch ornamented with dog-tooth, supported two limestone pillars at either end, the pillars having plain granite capitals. The base of the tomb is built up like an altar (L 2.8m; H 1.02-1.07m; D 0.93m). A blind arcade of trefoil arches (L 1.98m; H 0.48m), possibly from another tomb, decorates the front of the altar part of the tomb. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of uploas: 2 August, 2012
