Freestanding cast-iron vent pipe, extant 1928. Set on quay.
A vent pipe supplied by Adams Hydraulics Limited (established 1885) of York representing an interesting example of mass-produced cast-iron work making a pleasing, if largely inconspicuous visual statement on Sand Quay. NOTE: The vent pipe was possibly installed in connection with the development of a water main (1912) to designs by Bartholomew O'Flynn (1874-1950) of Cork (Irish Builder 17th February 1912, 114).
