Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U 975 as Submarine (period Unassigned)-(1946). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
U 975 was a German U-boat surrendered to the Allies at the end of World War II and later transferred to the Soviet Union. It was scuttled in Scottish waters in 1946, with no lives lost; the vessel was essentially abandoned as part of post-war military surplus.
