U 868 was a German U-boat, likely lost in 1945 during the final months of World War II. It was probably sunk by Allied forces, with no survivors recorded, as German U-boats typically had no lifeboats; its significance lies in being one of the few German submarines known to have been sunk after the formal surrender of Nazi Germany.
