Two early Christian churches stood in County Down, their stone foundations still marking the ground where dere gathered to pray. They belonged to the first centuries of faith in Ireland, when worship happened in small open places before grand cathedrals rose elsewhere. The land remembers them because people kept returning, building and believing there.
