Trevor Molloy was born in Dublin on 14 April 1977, the soil that first shaped the forward who would later score for Bohemians, St Patrick's Athletic and Glenavon. He began at Shamrock Rovers in 1996, broke through at Athlone Town, won leagues with St Patrick's Athletic, and represented Ireland at the 1997 FIFA World Youth Championships. His life moved between Dublin clubs, Carlisle United, Motherwell and Northern Ireland, but the birthplace remains the quiet starting point: a boy from County Dublin becoming a professional footballer.
