What is recorded here
Tommy Eglington was born in Donnycarney, County Dublin on 15th January 1923, the son of a butcher and one of seven siblings. He learned the game in local fields after school and played for Shamrock Rovers before Everton scouted him and Peter Farrell in Belfast. The rough ferry crossing to Liverpool nearly broke his resolve, but a warm welcome at the quay turned doubt into pride for the greatest club in the world.
