Toberreendoney, near Kilgeever, is traditionally associated with Saint Gobnait, a 6th-century Irish saint known for her patronage of beekeeping and healing. The well may have been visited for its supposed curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin, with local folklore suggesting that water collected at dawn was most effective.
