What is recorded here
Three crannogs still break the surface of Lough Mourne, round stone islands built by people who refused to leave the land when the water rose. They scatter across the lough like forgotten coins, each one a household, a garden, a temple or a trap depending on the story told beside them. The lake keeps them level and patient, waiting for someone to wade in and remember what ownership meant before roads drew their honest lines.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as THREE CRANNOGS. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
