Linked to the legendary Scottish bard Ossian, a figure from Gaelic mythology and the cycle of Fingal, the site is traditionally associated with early medieval bardic and druidic practices. Ossian was believed to have meditated or composed poetry there, blending pre-Christian and later Christian traditions in Scottish folklore.
