What is recorded here

Sited on the E shoulder of a ridge in pasture. This is an irregular mound of stones, 10m by 8m and 1.5m high at its northern end, which is now largely grass-grown. Bedrock protrudes above its lower southern end. Considerable deposits of field- clearance stones have been dumped here. There is no trace of any structural feature but according to an account in the OS 25-inch Name Book of 1908 the 'stones of this antiquity' were removed some eighteen years earlier. The nature of the site is uncertain.
