St. John's Lane in Dublin held a tennis court before 1625, and one wall still marks the graveyard boundary after the other three disappeared in 1972. The court survived centuries of city change, suggesting people valued the game or the lane enough to keep it standing. Its sudden loss in 1972 removed most of the structure but left behind a line in the earth that still separates the living street from the dead.

A tennis court was in existence before 1625 at St John's Lane at the upper end of Fishamble Street and survived until 1972 when three of its walls were demolished.
