Templebryan Stone Circle

Templebryan Stone Circle stands in a field north of Clonakilty, its five remaining stones and one central quartz marker left behind after others vanished or fell. Built perhaps as early as 2000 BC, the circle may have watched the sun descend toward the west or south-west, a rhythm later people still honoured when they placed their dead beside it. The adjoining church ruins and ogham stone suggest the area remained a threshold between living memory and older forgetting.
