What is recorded here
In 1482, a twenty-seven-year-old bishop returned to Ross only to find another man already sitting in his chair, triggering a bloody dispute between proud Irish dynasties. Rome had been misled about the previous bishop's death, but local pride refused to accept foreign error. Tadhg Mac Cárthaigh never ruled either see despite holding two titles, proving that distance can strip even holy office of its substance.
