Sweat Ho. (Disused)

Listed in both the SMR (1989) and RMP (1995) and classified 'Sweathouse'. In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. At the location indicated is a conical mound (diam. 3.6m; H 1.65m) of earth and stone, adjacent to a field boundary. This is probably post-1700 AD in date. A sweat house, traditionally associated with ritual cleansing and healing practices, often linked to saintly or folkloric traditions involving sweat lodges for physical or spiritual purification. Such sites were sometimes connected to local saints or seasonal rituals, though specific traditions at Sweat Ho. are not well documented.
