Structure

A deposit (Wth 2.4m; D 0.46m) of light brushwood, laid 5-6 pieces deep, with occasional twigs in the drain face. The brushwood is widely spaced, irregularly laid and lacks a discernible structure. Woodworking is evidenced by a single piece with a metal cut-and-tear mark. Two pieces of brushwood were identified as alder and hazel, respectively. The site is in moderately humified Sphagnum peat. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1994. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
