Structure

A possible post row (L 1.1m; Wth 0.94m; D 0.2m) on the field surface. It consists of approximately twelve widely spaced stakes, with no apparent orientation, located over an area approximately 1 x 1m. The stakes are set at angles ranging from 30-70° with some pieces horizontally set. A number of metal-cut chisel points are evident and one stake has been identified as alder. A worked piece of brushwood is located 1.1m to the E, 0.32m below the main site and additional stakes are located on the adjacent field surface. The association of this material to the main site is unclear. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1994. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
