What is recorded here

A single stake (L 0.51m; diam. 0.045m), in worked to a wedge shaped end. The stake was present within moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and some Phragmites. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1998. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
