Structure

A deposit of light brushwood with one stake on the field surface (L 2.93m min.; Wth 1.18m; D 0.04m). The elements are very fragmentary with no clear orientation or structure. The stake (diam. 0.04m) is set at a 45º angle. The wood is in poor condition with evidence of branch-trimming on a single piece. This site lies in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with a large amount of Eriophorum and some ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2002. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
