What is recorded here
Kilcloony hides two churches, one mapped and one buried beneath crosses and grass. The real building may still stand under the older western ground, its walls forgotten but its shape preserved in stone markers and the memory of the site.
Within the higher older W part of a burial ground (GA061-063001-). FitzPatrick (2019, 28) noted wall-footings of a possible building in this area of the burial ground. Two crosses (GA016-063003- and GA016-063004-), one of which is of early medieval date, have also been recorded here, leading her to suggest that that this could possibly be the site of the medieval church of Kilcloony as opposed to the building designated as such on the OS maps (see GA016-061----).
