Stone sculpture in Town Parks

Within the C of I church in Carrick-on-Suir, N of Main Street. The medieval church of St. Nicholas of Myra (TS085-004006-) appears to have survived until c. 1813 when it was demolished and replaced by a C of I church (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 1, 63). In the interior of the church there is a stone statue (H c.2m) of a bearded man dressed in a full length Franciscan habit with a voluminous hood and cross-strap sandals. Both hands are missing. It formerly stood in the grounds of the Franciscan Friary (TS085-004004-) in Carrickbeg.
