Standing stone in Parcellstown (moygoish By.)

Situated on the highest point of a ridge running NE-SW, with good views in all directions, directly overlooking a marshy valley to SE. Not depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map or the 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. Monument described in 1983 as a rectangular-shaped slab (approx. H 1.5m) which is rectangular in plan (approx. dims. c. 8cm x 6cm) at the base. It is worn by cattle using it as a scratching post, and a chunk has cracked out of the N side, giving the top a pointed appearance. Monument is not visible on Digital Globe aerial photography.
