Standing stone in Orchard Lower,orchard Upper

Orchard Lower and Orchard Upper hide an unlocated standing stone, remembered only through H. Roe's unpublished account of rude stone monuments in County Laois. The exact ground has slipped from modern sight, yet the townland name still points to a place where people once lived beside something old enough to stop being ordinary. Perhaps the stone marked a boundary, a loss, a meeting point or a warning. That much has been forgotten, but the absence itself keeps the story alive.
