Standing stone in Newtown (rathdown By.) is a 1.75m granite orthostat, square in plan and pointed at the top, set on the upper crest of a hill above the old chapel in Glencullen village. It stands about 6m NE of a barrow, placing it within a landscape already marked for memory and ritual. People may have climbed past the chapel to touch its edge, read weather in its shadow, or leave small offerings on the grass beside it. The stone does not need a legend to be worthy of attention; its shape, position and permanence do the speaking.

Situated on the upper crest of a hill above the old chapel in Glencullen village.
