What is recorded here

Three stones stood on Mrs O'Connell's land in Meennaraheeny, the largest measuring roughly three feet six inches tall. Bowman recorded them in 1934, but their exact position has slipped from memory. They may have marked a boundary, a burial or a meeting place, yet no one remembers which. What remains is the shape of absence: three stones once visible, now vanished even from the field where they stood.

One of three standing stones (CO004-044---; CO004-045---) recorded by Bowman (1934, 82) on Mrs O'Connell's land; '(c) 3ft 6in x 2ft 4in x 1ft 6in'. Exact location not known. Bowman (ibid.) also recorded two adjacent stones (CO004-046---) on Mrs O'Connell's land. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
